TEN ROUND PAPER LIGHTS DANGLE ON A STRING AROUND THE PATIO, ONE OF THEM NEVER STOPS FLICKERING. DESTINY I FEEL IN MY TOES, IN MY ANKLES AND SOCKS. EVERY TIME IT FLICKERS I REMEMBER THE BEAUTY OF THE STARS AT NIGHT, THE TASTE OF SUMMER PLUMS, AND THE FRESHNESS OF BREATH IN EVERY NEW ADVENTURE.

i love finding strings of your dark-black hair
tucked in between the sheets of my bed linens.
as if you left them there purposefully,
for me to find later as a treat- a sweet memory-
proving your existence here that night.
laying naked, warming one another’s body’s
with our friction and passion:
cooling each other with every bead of sweat that drizzled from our crevices.
